Just Do It
I hate those 3 words. Mainly because Nike killed them and all I can hear in my head when they are said is Bo Jackson.
As some of you may know, I’ve been struggling with this trip to Ethiopia and purpose behind it. Not because I don’t believe in what we’re doing or that I think I’m making a huge mistake… I just keep coming back to, “Why me, what do I have to offer?” Well… I received an email yesterday, and it was a gentle but firm hand to the side of my head. Here is the email,
I was reading a book yesterday where the guy really wants an important job (as prior of a monastery), but it’s a challenging position, with lots of problems, and he’s young. Someone tells him, “When you’re thinking, please remember this: excessive pride is a familiar sin, but a man may just as easily frustrate the will of God through excessive humility” [think Moses] “Stop assuming everyone else is smarter and more sophistocated than you are and do what God gifted you to do.”
So, for those of you (mainly myself) who have something you’re supposed to do but don’t think you’re good enough. Stop assuming everyone else is smarter, do what God gifted you to do.
And to the person who sent me the email… thank you.
