Welcome to the Family.

55 Days.

It’s a very odd thing, time.  As a child Christmas couldn’t come fast enough, the days would drag on and on then before I knew it, the tree was down, the toys were boring and it was still freezing outside.  It was then a new countdown would begin, one for summer vacation.  When I was a kid if you had told me what I’d be doing when I was 33 years of age, that would have seemed a lifetime away now… I don’t understand where the time has gone.

In approx 55 days (give or take a few hours), I will be boarding a plane with 2 other friends, Cody and Walt, and heading to Ethiopia.  If I still had the same mindset about time as I did when I was a kid, 55 days would seem so far away, now however I know different… 55 days will be here in a flash.

It’s crazy, it seems like only last weekend that I was sitting around a table with friends and family, talking about what could and needs to be done to help raise awareness in Ethiopia, then deciding I will do it only because I can.  That wasn’t last weekend, that was in May.

So, I look forward to my trip, I don’t get excited about much, but I am excited to see that beautiful country once again.  I am excited for the coffee, for the cultural experiences, for fellowship and conversations that will happen.  I’m excited in how my relationships with 2 great friends will grow.  Most of all, I’m excited for the few months after the trip.  I’m excited to see what kind of difference, if any, our small part will play in the lives of kids and people in Ethiopia.

I love Ethiopia, my heart breaks for it, my heart longs to be there, 55 days… that seems like forever.
